Requesting translation services for confidential documents from a translation service company lacking adequate data security measures can entail serious risks for your information’s integrity and privacy.
The absence of a nondisclosure guarantee could open the door for unauthorized parties to gain access to your sensitive information, leading to privacy breaches, misuse of the information and even significant economic losses.
The absence of data encryption during storage or transfer makes your information more vulnerable to cyberattacks, undesirable interception and theft. At the same time, failure to implement appropriate restricted access measures could enable unauthorized third parties to view or even manipulate your information, thereby compromising its security.
But it doesn’t stop there. The absence of robust cybersecurity policies would mean that the language translation service provider in question lacks the necessary protocols to prevent, detect or respond to data security breaches, leaving your information exposed to a very real possibility of loss or theft. Furthermore, relying on external platforms or servers – instead of having a secure own server – is likely to aggravate these vulnerabilities, as your information would be prone to additional security risks from third parties, including breaches that can ultimately lead to the unauthorized disclosure of key data.
These vulnerabilities not only affect the security of your information but can also give rise to some major legal and financial consequences for the customer. At Babel we are fully aware of the importance of ensuring the confidentiality of our customers information and have the following measures in place to preserve our 100% record of zero data security breaches:
Our IT experts understand fully what needs to be done to keep your information completely safe. This is further reinforced with unambiguous NDAs specifying how your documents will be handled and for how long (we strongly recommend a prior meeting with the customer to define these terms and conditions).
We have strict internal policies in the field of cybersecurity, along with solid recovery plans in the event of external situations beyond our control (natural disaster, fire, etc.).
Documentation setting out these policies can be shared with the customer if required.
This is a further measure to ensure data security during delivery. At Babel we adapt the way we deliver the final translation to the customer in accordance with the latter’s preferences.
If the translation is to be delivered by e-mail, we use institutional e-mails protected by TLS protocol to ensure safe delivery, and can also encrypt e-mails that only the end user can decrypt upon receiving them by using an exclusive password.
At Babel all customer information is processed locally, which means no third-party cloud facilities or data sharing are involved at any point. All customer data is concentrated in our local server and stored there until final completion of the project or for as long as the customer specifies, after which it is securely deleted.
The timeframe during which we keep customer information is agreed with the customer in question at the beginning of the relationship and then confirmed in a signed service agreement.
At Babel we restrict access to your documents and/or information on a strictly need-to-know basis. Furthermore, all our personnel are legally bound by signed nondisclosure provisions.
